Who’s tried sharpening their knife on a cotton buffing wheel with metal polish?.

I was polishing my blades and thought “hmm maybe this could sharpen”. My knives were hair whittling sharp before but it seemed to..well.. polish the edge even more. I strop with 2.5 micron paste, but this seemed it could have been 1 micron or something. for some reason I don’t trust it, i guess im more comfortable freehand. Would you do this to sharpen, or have you tried it.?
